Bangladeshi cybersecurity enthusiast Mihir Bormon has brought international recognition to Bangladesh through outstanding performances in two prestigious global cybersecurity competitions held in Saudi Arabia and South Korea, highlighting the country's growing presence in the international ethical hacking and cybersecurity community. Mihir achieved 12th place globally at the Black Hat MEA CTF 2025 Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he competed against some of the world's leading Capture the Flag (CTF) teams. Competing under the online alias "surf_excel," he also earned two "First Blood" awards by becoming the first participant to solve two complex mathematics and cryptography challenges during the competition.

Building on that achievement, Mihir qualified for the HackTheOn Sejong 2026 International Collegiate Cybersecurity Competition in South Korea after securing 4th place in the preliminary round among 1,779 contestants representing 548 teams from 47 countries. His team advanced to the onsite finals, where they won an International Merit Prize and successfully solved several challenging cybersecurity tasks, including a satellite security challenge. According to Mihir, both international trips were fully sponsored by Uzbekistan-based Turan Security after he was unable to secure financial support from institutions in Bangladesh. He described these achievements as important milestones in representing Bangladesh on the global cybersecurity stage and expressed hope that more young Bangladeshi talents would receive institutional support to compete internationally.

Bangladesh has been steadily producing talented cybersecurity professionals and ethical hackers who are making their mark in international competitions. Mihir Bormon's accomplishments demonstrate the country's growing technical capabilities and the potential of its young innovators to compete with some of the world's best cybersecurity experts.
