Toyota Tsusho Corporation plans to establish a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) manufacturing industry in a Bangladeshi economic zone, with initial activities expected to begin in 2027 and full-scale production targeted for 2029.
The planned investment is expected to contribute to the development of Bangladesh’s automotive manufacturing sector while creating opportunities for technology transfer and local workforce development.
Alongside vehicle manufacturing, Toyota Tsusho plans to expand its distribution network across the country. The company also intends to create employment opportunities and support technical training programmes to develop skilled workers for the automotive industry.
The initiative could strengthen Bangladesh’s capacity in advanced vehicle manufacturing and related technical services, while supporting the development of local skills and industrial capabilities.
With the planned transition toward HEV production, the project would also introduce greater access to hybrid vehicle manufacturing technology in Bangladesh.
