
WUB Hosts Business Idea Competition 2026: Students Showcase Sustainable Innovations and Entrepreneurial Potential
World University of Bangladesh (WUB) has awarded the winners of the “Business Idea Competition–2026: Innovation for Sustainable Growth”, recognizing students for their innovative ideas and entrepreneurial potential. The three-day competition concluded with an award ceremony held at the university’s Founding Treasurer Morsheda Chowdhury Auditorium on Wednesday, July 15.The closing ceremony brought together more than 126 participants and guests, including distinguished academics, industry representatives, judges, mentors, faculty members, students, and members of the organizing committee.In his welcome speech, WUB Registrar Professor Zaki Imam praised all participating students for their creativity, dedication, and entrepreneurial mindset, highlighting the importance of nurturing innovation among young people.
The chief guest, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of World University of Bangladesh, emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening the connection between academia and industry. He stated that initiatives like this play a vital role in developing future entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, and responsible leaders.As the guest of honor, Md. Nazrul Islam Sarker, Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, highlighted the importance of innovation-driven entrepreneurship for Bangladesh’s economic growth. He encouraged students to transform their creative ideas into successful ventures that can create real-world impact.
Special guests, including Professor Md. Mamun Habib, Head of the General Management Department at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), and Professor Rafiquddin Ahmed from the Department of Marketing at the University of Dhaka, discussed the role of innovation, sustainable development, and stronger collaboration between industries and educational institutions.
Representing the core committee, Professor A Q M Shafiul Azam, Dean of Academic Affairs and Research, congratulated everyone involved in successfully organizing the competition. On behalf of the advisory committee, WUB Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. M Nurul Islam appreciated the initiative for promoting entrepreneurial thinking and sustainable innovation among students.
During the event, certificates and recognition awards were presented to external and internal judges, special guests, and organizing committee members for their contributions to the successful completion of the competition.
Winning Teams and Innovative Ideas
The Champion Award was secured by Team AmarDoctor from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The team was recognized for presenting an impactful business idea with strong innovation potential.
Team Green Genesis from the Department of Textile Engineering became the First Runner-Up, while Team Pharmagoal from the Department of Pharmacy achieved the Second Runner-Up position.
Additionally, Team EcoPulp BD from the Department of Textile Engineering received the Best Innovative Idea Award, while Team CareCatalyst from the Department of Business Administration won the Best Social Impact Idea Award.
In his closing remarks, Professor Selim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and Convener of the competition, thanked everyone involved in organizing the event. He encouraged students to transform their innovative concepts into sustainable ventures that contribute to national development and social progress.
The Business Idea Competition–2026 reflects the growing focus among Bangladeshi universities on entrepreneurship development, innovation, and preparing young talents to build future-ready businesses.
